2. Keep It Clean

You could simply use your bar soap on your face in the shower and be done with it, or you could splash water on it. You may be doing more to keep your skin clean in either scenario.

Your skin is exposed to filth and contaminants in the air every day. Every night, it’s slammed against your pillowcase, massaged, and when you wake up, it’s covered in sleep crusties. To put it another way, it has to be cleaned. Every single day. Most likely twice.

Even if you have tough, non-sensitive skin, deodorant soaps (the bar sort you use in the shower) are too harsh for the more sensitive skin on your face, and even if you have robust, non-sensitive skin, this type of cheap soap isn’t doing you any favors.

You should wash your face twice a day if you have oily skin. The American Academy of Dermatology suggests using an oil-free, non-comedogenic cleanser (non-pore-blocking). To combat current pimples and prevent future breakouts, they recommend using a cleanser that contains benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid.

Look for a gentle cleanser if you have a mixture or regular skin. You don’t want anything too drying or hydrating, because your pH balance will be thrown off, resulting in breakouts or drying.

Look for a mild cleanser if you have dry skin. Cleansing creams are a wonderful option because they don’t remove the skin from its natural oils. Also, use lukewarm water rather than boiling to avoid further drying.

3. Deal with any issues that arise.

This section is primarily for males who have acne. We know you wish you’d left it behind with your youthful voice and downy silky underarm hair. You, on the other hand, did not. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, up to 50 million Americans are in the same position as you, so don’t feel like you’re alone.

Acne can be treated at home with over-the-counter and prescription topical medications. If you’ve done everything and still aren’t seeing results, it’s time to see a dermatologist. However, if you realize you haven’t been consistent in your efforts, now is the moment to begin. You’ll want to locate solutions created specifically to cure your current pimples and prevent future ones once you’ve established a daily cleansing practice.

Spot treatments, such as those containing benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, work by drying up existing pimples. You may usually apply them straight to your zits one to three times per day, and they will effectively limit the lifespan of a pimple.

In most situations, toners and astringents are too abrasive for your skin. Even your oily skin qualifies. Their major ingredient is alcohol, and while it may feel like they are tightening and drying your pores, this sensation is fleeting, and the alcohol may be causing more harm than good.

Blotting sheets are more about appearance than anything else, but we know how important appearance is when you have oily, acne-prone skin. They immerse the oil on the skin with a little tissue like paper to absorb it.

4. Protect and moisturize

Moisturize and protect is perhaps the most crucial phase in any skincare program. If you could only do one thing for your skin on a daily basis, it would be to protect it. This is accomplished by choosing a solution that will restore your skin’s ideal moisture balance while also protecting it from further harm.

Sunscreen. Sunscreen is essential for all skin types. You need to protect your skin from dangerous UV radiation that can promote premature aging, dark spots, and wrinkles, whether it’s an oil slick or a desert. Look for a moisturizer that contains “wide spectrum sunscreen,” which protects against both UVA and UVB radiation, which causes aging and sunburns. ”They instantly decrease the appearance of fine wrinkles from 15 percent to 20%.”

Retinol-based anti-aging serums are another fantastic option, and there are retinoid alternatives for all skin types. Dermatologists frequently recommend them since they are one of the few ingredients that can permeate beneath the skin’s surface.
