These seven suggestions are applicable to all skin types. If anything, take our suggestions as a starting point and a guideline, then tweak them later to fit your individual needs (if desired).

Day 1: Remove your makeup EVERY NIGHT (or cleanse your skin properly every night if you don’t wear makeup).

Improper washing is the leading cause of skin aging faster and breaking out more than usual. When we don’t completely remove our makeup, the residual residue creeps into our skin, causing breakouts and fine wrinkles. If you don’t think this applies to you since you don’t wear cosmetics, you’re in for a surprise! Your skin produces oil throughout the day, and if it isn’t washed correctly, it will be more prone to breakouts and age more quickly.

Face masks make it more important than ever to properly cleanse our skin every night. Even if you only wear a mask for a minute to go get coffee, bacteria will still build on your skin. Maskne (acne caused by masks) is a new problem that we must actively address.

How can I remove my makeup and cleanse my skin properly?

Day 2: Get a good night’s sleep!

Because of work deadlines or other activities, getting enough sleep is sometimes our last concern. Making a timetable for yourself can help you manage your stress and get adequate sleep. Planning your days and weeks ahead of time allows you to complete chores on schedule and avoid becoming overwhelmed at the last minute.

All-nighters are strictly prohibited!

If you aren’t getting enough sleep every night, start with just a few days per week to get back on track. Add an extra day after each week until, hopefully, you’re receiving appropriate sleep seven days a week!

 

Day 3: Every week, exfoliate your skin.

To eliminate pollutants and dead skin, exfoliators are necessary. You may need to exfoliate more or less depending on your skin type. Day 5: Take a break from your skin!

Day 6: Try not to touch your face.

This might be a difficult habit to overcome, but it is critical to do so. We touch so many surfaces during the day that bacteria wind up on our faces. Keep track of time you touch your face and make an effort to quit.

Along with avoid touching your face, be mindful of what you do let to come into contact with your skin! One of the items that comes into contact with it frequently is our phones, which are also miniature portable petri dishes that carry inconceivable amounts of bacteria. At the end of each day, wipe your phone with an alcohol wipe. This should go without saying, especially in the event of a global epidemic. Cleaning it once a day is recommended, but you are free to clean it as often as you want!

Don’t forget to clean your teeth! Dirty makeup brushes are laden with oily makeup residue, dead skin cells, and bacteria, and they are the backbone of your routine.
